Daisy Bates grew up in Natchez, Mississippi, a city rich with history, family, and stories worth telling. From her earliest days, she was surrounded by people who believed in the power of showing up, standing up, and loving out loud.

The Daisy series is drawn from her own childhood. The little girl in these pages is her. George and Rosie are her parents. John is her husband. The daycare, the monument, the library, all of it is real, and all of it shaped who she became.

Daisy writes children’s books as a living legacy - for her great-grandchildren, and for the generations that will continue to follow. She hopes that one day, they will pick up these pages and feel the full weight of where they come from: a family that was brave, that loved deeply, and that left something behind to guide them.
